How long has it been since Kalmbach went to this new website layout?
And I STILL get that stupid “you must unlock your userid… logout and log back in” error message occasionally - like two minutes ago. Enough is enough already. FIX THE BUG, PLEASE!!!
Sorry folks, but this stupid bug really annoys me, as does Kalmbach’s apparent disinterest in fixing it. They sure don’t have bugs in their advertising e-mail system, do they? So how about some attention here?
Hi Mark, I never have this issue, so it certainly does not impact everyone.
When I looked at your post, I realize that it seems to be ages since I bumped into you on-line. How is the layout progressing? As a Q fan myself I regarded your layout as one of the great projects, but it seems like an age since I looked at any photos of it. Any links you can provide to updates?
Have you tried contacting Customer Service about your issue? Like Simon, I’ve never run across it myself. CS may either have a suggestion to help fix it on your end of things, or can contact their IT guy to deal with it on theirs.
Probably just someone who left an old customized error message from the time of the changeover, which nowadays probably should have had a new text saying something like :
“It has been too long since the last time you logged on - our server no longer recognizes your session - please log out and log in again to so our server can refresh it’s information on your logged in session”.
Or words more or less to that effect. Just log out and log in again. It will fix the “error”
Every once in a while I have that same experience. I do not know if the problem is at the Kalmbach end or if it is due to my fairly relentless clearing out of cookies and running of security scans and defrags of my system.
It’s your web browser and computer, not Kalmbach’s. If you have your browser set up to delete cookies every time you log off, that’s what is causing your frustration. You need to allow cookies because your log-on user name and password are stored on your computer as a cookie.
[?] Thanks for that in-depth technical analysis, cacole. How did you arrive at your conclusion? [?] (no, I’m not trying to spin you up. Just clumsily pointing out that your conclusion is rather arbitrary.)
It isn’t my computer. My browser is NOT set up to delete cookies. This bug pops up randomly, both at work and at home. Sometimes I’ll go weeks without seeing this, while other times it recurrs within a day or two. I was on the forums a couple days ago and things were fine. This morning I got that annoying message, while on the right the screen says “Welcome back…” Until I log off and back on, I can’t post forum messages, though the remainder of the website seems to function just fine (I can look at subscriber content with no problem).
But I will contact the webmaster about the problem, if I can find him/her.
About three years ago I made the mistake of running for local office (Borough Council). I was elected, and the layout work ground to a near halt shortly afterward. Council is very time consuming, and all the childish maneuvering that goes on is very exhausting to watch. I have little energy other than for work and Council. But there’s a light at the end of tunnel - my term is up this coming December! The downside is that some of the local folks want to put me up for mayor next! OY! [xx(]
I did manage to put together a clinic on my helix which I gave at the regional NMRA meet two years ago, and then revised and gave at the National in Hartford last year! That was fun - both giving the clinic and attending the convention!
I’m hoping to get back on the layout soon. Thanks for asking! [:)]
Mark, glad to hear that there is light at the end of the tunnel. That explains the lack of update on the web site! I volunteered for school board and find that it also is a time consumer. Good for you though for stepping up and serving your community.
