How many forum members does it take to change a light bulb?
1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed
14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs
1 to move it to the Lighting section
2 to argue then move it to the Electricals section
7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs
5 to flame the spell checkers
3 to correct spelling/grammar flames
6 to argue over whether it’s “lightbulb” or “light bulb” … another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is “lamp”
15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that “light bulb” is perfectly correct
19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum
11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum
36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty
7 to post URL’s where one can see examples of different light bulbs
4 to post that the URL’s were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL’s

Yeah Tom, those Google ads are something else. When we talk about eBay, we get ads about sniping software, and when we talk about graffiti, we get ads for removal products.[swg]
The google adds search for key word in the posting and respond accordingly. I noticed that when we were talking about Dept 56 building, they responded about that.
You can browse all kinds of bulbs at www.homedepot.com… and yes, it’s “light bulbs”. Don’t forget to turn off the power when changing the bulb, it can be dangerous! By the way, are you sure this thread belongs in the toy train forum???
Amazing how closely we are following the process layed out in the joke. Sadly, you have set a new record for postings without grammatical mistakes [:)].
I missed the 2 forum members who burnt their fingers in changing a light bulb and the thereon following 25 ways to cure the sore fingers.
And the discussion about voltage which is to be used to get the best result, a 24 volts lamp burns less bright than a 12 volt when used on 16 volts… etc.[:D]
What about a 25 post discussion about the pro’s and con’s of screw and bajonet lampholders??

It takes many people to change a lightbulb. Go to Home Depot sometime and see the wide selection of recessed lights, flourescent, and the many-shaped bulbs. It can be a nightmare trying to find the right bulb you need. I usually bring the burned-out bulb with me as the many people at Home Depot (if you can find them) themselves don’t really know which light is which.
And, changing out tiny bulbs in toy trains or replacing them with LEDs is a task as there are so many types of bulbs.
Consider the many choices:
Lightbulb size
shape
color
wattage
color rating
lumens
candela
temperature rating
etc etc
So, I’d say it takes a village to change a lightbulb.
While this is indeed a very funny posting, I received the very same text in an email that was winding its way through the internet some months ago. These things usually find their way around again after a few years.
In any event, let’s pose another question: How many forum members does it take to replace all of the lightbulbs on a train with white LEDs?
Well now lets see-- 1 to decide that the bulbs must be replaced; 3 to decide that #1 is wrong-- but for different reasons[:)]; 2 to argue over what screw to remove first— and so on until #1 decides to not change the bulbs, and takes the cars home from the club[:p]
