Lately, my wife has spent more on our layout than I have.

I’m tentatively placing my wife in the “possible” model rail fan category. She’s a fan of prototype trains and gladly accompanies me on trips to stations, museums and we have done several AmTrak cross country trips in tiny roomettes. She enjoys train travel.
She has also willingly accompanied me to a few model railroad shows and has an amazing knack for winning the door prizes! The most recent show, she had a ladies book club meeting so I went with a buddy. I didn’t win a door prize. I sure missed her!
She has expressed an interest in participating in scenicing. She is a pretty good drawer and painter and is attending an upcoming tree building clinic put on by Sierra Man’s wife, next month. My wife has operated my completed big city yard with me and had a good time for over an hour, two times now. She thought it resembled 3D chess! There is hope that she’ll increasingly participate in my hobby at least to some degree but she is VERY enthusiastic and supportive on my behalf.
She thinks MRs are the nicest people that she’s ever met and thinks that any woman looking for a “nice” mate could do worse than to hook up with a M.R.er. So…that must have been the “subtle magic” I worked on her 30 yrs. ago! Or maybe it was the motorcycle ride on our lst date…
