Anyone know the size of Montana Rail Link’s 2nd SD70ACe order? The MRL website doesn’t even mention new locomotives at all.
Only 2, 4400 and 4401.
I think last month, or the one before “Train” had an article on this, and I think they said they were getting “two” [2] more… At close to 2.5 million each, this is a big investment.
saw them both roll though Alliance NE a couple weeks ago.
That sounds pretty pricey for two used demos. I believe their earlier examples ran about 2.2 million a unit.
They aren’t used demos, they were built in Mexico a couple of months ago…
Yeah you’re right, I got the Arkansas & Missouri Alco killers mixed up with MRL’s pair of new locomotives.
A&M is only leasing 3 SD70ACes for one train (i.e the biggest), they won’t be selling any ALCos.
With them handling mainline trains, I bet they lead to a few retirements.
