How much does a prototype engine cost?

Does anyone have or know where on the internet I can get firgures on the production years and costs of diesel locomotives? I once had a list of production years but can’t find it anymore. I also can’t find any information on how much a new engine costs a railroad. I did a google search and looked on EMD’s website but haven’t found anything. Any help would be appreciated.
