How much freight activity is there at Port Jervis ?

I am going to the Catskills in two weeks…I heard that NS does some work there as well as the SUSYQ

I believe Metro North serves Port Jervis with Service to Hoboken, NJ or Grand Central Terminal, NYC. I dont know much about freight in the area.

Right now I think the only freight action going through Port Jervis is the NYS&W. I think it is one train a day.

Metro North runs to Hoboken via Jersey Transit with pretty reasonable schedules and push-pull diesel trains. If I remember correctly, the power is always on the west end, the end away from Hoboken.

That is going to make it difficult for him to get in and out of there.
