Hi, How tall are the new Walthers cars as I have tunnels by woodland scenics and I don’t know if they will fit. Ken
HO scale?
Assuming that it is, the average height for a single level Walthers classic Budd and Pullman Standard streamliner era car is 1 7/8 inches. However, this will vary slightly give or take 1/16". The spring contact plates above the trucks, which are slightly bowed on purpose, will affect the height. At times if they’re bulging downward too much, the car will sit slightly higher. Simple matter of gently flattening them slightly with a flat-blade screwdriver.
Don’t forget to add the height of your rails, which will vary depending on what type you’re using (code 70, code 83, code 100).
I don’t know if there is an NMRA standard for tunnel ceiling heights, but most scale tunnels I’ve seen are at least 3" high, which will accommodate dome cars and double-stack container trains.

Aprroximately 2 1/4" tall from the wheel bottoms to the roof, give or take 1/16". Add additional increments for rail height and road bed. Basically if your tunnel ceilings are at about 3", you should be ok.
New Chrome plated Amtrak double-deckers? I’m assuming you mean the Walthers Superliners.
