How to cast your own rocks and install them on your model train layout

Ty…you’re doing a nice job with your rock molds. Thanks for sharing it. I’d like to see how the layout turns out.

Great tutorial, thanks for posting. Please post more as you continue the layout, would love to see them

I love this technique. Works better then the old way of taking still soft molds and placing them on the layout. More time to fit things is great.

Great vidio, I am at the point of landscaping my layout and I will
use your technique. I can’t wait to get started. Thanks for sharing.

It’s a great idea. I am almost to the point of scenery and will give this a try. I hope you post some more of your work or should I say fun with rocks. I won’t have as many rock formations but enough to see what happens.

Excellent video. Good ideas presented well.

Thanks Guys for the comments. Almost ready to start painting the rocks will summit a video soon …

Ty

Great video, Ty! The fact that I model N-scale makes this a timely how-to lesson for me because the thickness of the rocks is even more critical in a smaller scale in order to make it look in proportion to the size of the trains. Great Job!

Best video I have ever seen on making and installing rock castings. I can’t wait for your video on coloring them.

Ty…I sure appreciate your video. It makes modeling rocks much easier than others I have seen… I also am looking forward to the coloring tutorial.,Jim

Great job Ty, I really learned a lot and can’t wait to see your video of coloring your excellent rock work.

Excellent video and techniques I’m in the process of rebuilding my N scale layout and this has really opened a lot of opportunities for the river canyon I want to build, Thanks Ty

Outstanding. …new to Model Railroading. Watching videos all day about mountains, hills, etc. I wish that Ty would have did some coloring on the rocks. I will continue watching more videos the rest of the day. Thanks, Don in California.
