I have always wondered how they do it on professional layouts?? Lining up the milk car with the platform without going back and forth with throttle. Is there some sort of power kill switch or something on the track?? because i seen a video from the 1950’s on lionel and the train goes past the milk platform, and the milk car goes past the platform then goes in reverse then stops right at the platform, and then operates it automatically. how in the world do you do all this without all the troubles?? anyone know a website what might tell how or something, thanks.
any good books on wiring that you know of that might be of any help?? thanks.
I just walk over to the accessory with my CAB-1. That’s the beauty of Command Control!

Odd as it may sound, I think the coasting action in many of today’s locomotives makes it more difficult to stop the train exactly where you want it. I find myself trying to slow the train to a crawl to then be able to stop it where I want. If a reference spot is not easy to pick out at the point I want, I can add a tree or figure to give me a spot to shoot for.
I am pretty sure it is trial and error. On my 771 stockyard and the 766 gilford station you justkind of hit and miss.

Practice, practice, practice! What else is there to do when you play with trains?
Let’s not forget about the magic of editing. We don’t know how many attempts were made before putting that clip in the “can”. I would bet more than just a few.
Jon is right. Cab 1 makes this much easier. But it doesn’t have to be in command. I do it in conventional with my PWC and remote cab-1
