guys, need your help… how do i kitbash a kato/athearn ac4400cw into a es44ac? anything would help… thanx…
Absolutely love that loco… too bad kato doesnt make an rtr model. I’m in the same fix as you; want to model one for BNSF in N scale. Basics are that the radiator section is extended about 33% and widened to be parallel with the walkway. Most obvious difference. Also I saw on the BNSF that the rear light is in the center, not the top of the hood. I’m a little nervous about starting this as I just dont have a steady enough hand to paint in N, Maybe in G but not N. This would also be my 1st loco kitbash. I have some links I’ll look up for you.
Here’s a site I found of an HO kitbash job;

I’ve been looking for a blueprint of the GEVO for some time now and the best I have is a foldout from MR… I believe it is the Nov 2004 issue; also has foldout of its competitor; SD70ACE. BTW, GE is working on a passenger model of this loco. Hope this helped at all, if I see anyhting big I’ll post it. GOOD LUCK! that’ll be an awesome model!
thanx for all the help… i really apreciated it… good luck to you too… send me a picture when you finish it… here’s my email ad nightw0lf_zeypi@yahoo.com… thanx again
I think that Kato will come out with one in 3 or 4 years, as they probably will be quite popular by then, if you can wait.

I don’t remember which issue it was, and I don’t have it in front of me, but MR published an article on the GEVO when it first came out last year and gave tips on how to model it from commercially available bodies.
