BXCARMIKE brought up an interesting possible problem. I have 2" foam with cork roadbed and flextrack. Do I need to glue a thin piece of wood to the foam to fasten the ground throws?
BB
You have to glue SOMETHING down, the foam won’t hold them, not after a few uses anyway. A small square of wood is probay the best option, although I’ve seen them pinned to a piece of cork instead.

I use a small square of cork, this will make level with your roadbed.( if your using cork )

Bruce,
I use a piece of cork road too. Spike and glue (I just use Elmer’s) the throw to the cork.
Mine have been in place for a couple of years now, I think. The ballast probably helps too. I’m sure that wood would work but the cork was easier.
Have fun,

Though I think yo may be right, I think I need to add some ballast around the base. I actually found that directly to the foam worked better then the roadbed pices, but could be I used WS roadbed foam, seems to have more give to it then cork.
I use squares of styrene. I then glue the ground throw to them. Plastic to plastic
seem to make a better bond. Good luck, Dave

dave9999, great idea! This will give me an excuse for getting some styrene. I’ve never worked with it before.
I agree with Dave’s method. I also use a styrene shim, then paint it with a concrete looking paint so it looks like a concrete pad.

Did you survive “KATRINA”? Like your idea for the squares.
