How to remove factory applied decals?

What is the best way to remove factory applied decals without damaging the paint?

So far as I know, most (all) contemporary factory applied decoration is done with pad printing, not decals. If you search this forum you’ll come up with many different ideas/opinions on how to remove this decoration, all of which entailing some risk of damaging the base paint layer.
