How to remove fingerprints from boxcars

Hi everyone

I have a couple of nice Lionel boxcars from the 50’s that are silver color.I guess from the kids handeling them over the years their fingerprints are all over the boxcars.Is there a safe way to remove these fingerprints without damanging the paint?Any help would be grately appreciated.

Most fingerprints should come off with an old toothbrush and some warm water with dishwashing liquid.
