Hello samual,

Buying a good starter set has always been a great way to save money. I’m a Marklin collector and have bought many of their sets with track and transformer just to get that one unsual locomotive or car plus additonal track. I’ve saved as much as $400.00 US on a set when adding the components individually. Besides, I like the sets!

Hi samual ,

90% of my train purchases are sets for that very reason . Just bought a premium Lionel set and a Bachmann On30 set for the price of a new engine . I hope Atlas and offers complete sets someday . Johnny C

I, too, often buy sets because of their value. Marklin comes immediately to mind because their individual components are often very costly, and the set prices often represent very good values. I’ve added to my Marklin Z and MAXI collections in this way many time–just received a Z starter set a couple of days ago, in fact, because I wanted the track sections as much as the locomotive and cars. The price was far lower than if I had ordered each of the items separately.

Got three sets; 1 lionel and 2 MTH to start out. Best value for your buck; that and Williams diesels and railking
