I have a spare motor for a 726 from 1946 and I needed to know how to hard wire this motor to a small transformer?? I have a 1032 transformer 75 watts. The motor has 5 connections for wires on the brushplate, it is an atomic precision motor and has a plug on the brushplate. It is a horizontal motor, not slanted. How do I hook this up to my 1032 to test to see if it works jsut fine in both directions?? Thanks.
Wire from the transformer to one brush. Wire from the other brush to one wire of the field. Wire from the other wire of the field to the transformer. The plug shouldn’t matter. It controls the E relay.

Swap the connections to the brushes to run it in the other direction.
Which connection is the brushes?? The very outside connections on the brushplate??
The middle connection is the wire field. Does that connect to the U on my 1032? And then the Very left or very right connection connects to the A post on my 1032?? What about the middle left and middle right connections?? Do nothing with them? I have 5 places I can put a wire on my brushplate.
One end of the field winding is connected to the middle terminal. The other end of the field winding is connected to the motor frame. The two brushes are connected to the two terminals immediately on each side of the middle terminal. Don’t use the two outermost terminals in your test.
Connect one of the brush terminals to the middle terminal. Connect the other brush terminal to one of your transformer posts. Connect the frame of the motor to the other transformer post. (It doesn’t matter which transformer terminal, A or U, you connect to which point on the motor.)
To run the motor the other way, connect the middle terminal to the other brush terminal instead of the one you first connected it to. Then connect the now-unconnected brush terminal to the transformer post. That is, swap the brush terminals.
If you hook it up and turn up the transformer voltage, the motor should start immediately. If it doesn’t start immediately, don’t wait for smoke. Shut the transformer off quickly and check your wiring.
I got it working in both directions. Thanks a lot!!! My service manuals say nothing about how to hot wire this type of motor. Thanks again.
