How to unplug Faller glue needle applicator?

I have a plugged Faller glue needle applicator. Any ideas on how to “safely” unplug the metal needle tube? I have tried a #78 and #83 drill bit but the plug is too far into to remove as I have done in the past. There is still liquid in the orange plastic bottle so would like to use the rest of the cement. This Faller part number is 170490, if that helps.

Thanks for any suggestions…

Not familiar with your particular bottle, but how about a piece of paino wire? I can’t remember which brand it was, but I have a couple of short pieces of wire, with the end as a loop (handle) that came right with the original purchase. The straight part of the wire is just long enough to get through the long tip on the tube. A long wire of the correct size should be able to poke in, I would think.

Good luck,

I did find a piece of wire and that worked…now back to building kits today! AND I will mark that wire and keep in a safe place…thanks!!

I’ve had the same problem and usually keep a bit of Radio Shack armature wire around to unplug it. But I’ve also found that if I hold the bottle upright and squeeze the glue in the applicator into a paper towel and cap it after each use, the bottle no longer plugs. It may sound like a waste of glue but I’ve been using the same bottle for 8 years now and seem to have plenty left. - Bill

Better yet, just keep the wire in the needle. I took the wire that came with the bottle and glued a big piece of plastic strip stock to it. When I’m done, I simply put the wire in the needle and leave it there until next time. The only time the bottle plugs up now is when I forget to put the wire in it. The big piece of plastic stock helps me find it on the workbench. I suppose I used a piece of plastic about .25x.25x1 inch and painted it yellow.

Hold the blocked bottle with the metal applicator tip of the glue bottle over a burning match for a moment. The solidified glue will burn off in brief flareup, and the bottle can be used again.

Use common sense when playing with matches - ie don’t burn your fingers, don’t stick your nose directly over the the glue to sniff in the minute amount of fumes created, and don’t start a fire by dropping the burning match in gasoline soaked rags or whatever if you get startled by the brief flareup the first time you try this

strike a match at the tip. The glue will burn off like a torch. be careful not to heat the tip to much as not to melt the plastic top tightness with the needle.

Soldering iron would also work like a match and no open flames. Same precautions about the fumes though.
