HOW TO WIRE HO SCLALE ATLAS SIGNAL BLOCK WITH A TUROUT IN MID BLOCK

sorry same post different heading:

I am using one signal for a turnout, and would like to know if anyone knows if you can have a turnout mid block, I would like to do this so I can acheive a red signal from both directions before and after the turnout, or how do i wire the turnout so I dont get a loss of power or short.

Thanks

What kind of switch motor are you using? If you’re using Tortoises, I believe it has electrical contacts just for signals. You could use a separate power supply for the signals, ensuring constant voltage to your trains. If you’re using Atlas turnouts, they have a Snap Relay for signals, block control, frog powering etc.

Thaks for the tip, yes, I am using Atlas manual switches, If I continue the block after the switch, it does not work, block before its fine.

Are you using an Atlas signal system or just wiring the signal to some off/on contacts. The part of the signal system beyond the switch needs some kind of detection to let the signal know something is or is not in the block. If you are using a detection system then both sides of the switch need to be connected to the detector system so the signal knows that the track is open or occupied. I hope this makes sense. Post a drawing or something of how you have wired the circuit so far. Dick Foster Reno NV
