HSR Tech explained

Richard Hammond, one of the presenters on BBC’s ‘Top Gear’. also has his own show explaining the engineering features of various things. This is the episode on Japan’s bullet trains.

Very cleverly and entertainingly done!

Very good video. BUT – at the end the guy said that this technology is being exported all over the world. Sadly the US is not included in his world. If the Republicans have anything to say, HSR is DEAD. Fly or drive. Rail is OUT – any rail, high speed, low speed, no speed – it’s all out.

If I could just ask a Republican type question - where exactly would you see all the dollars coming from to build this nationwide high speed rail system?

But is that a Republican or Democrat issue. LION wants not to stray into polytics. LIONS to not like tics regardless of how many there are. Be that ever said, AMTK and HSR are completely incomparable. AMTK rides on the cheap on heritage tracks shared with freight. HSR requires (to my way of thinking) dedicated ROWS, fully grade separated, elevated and of course electrified.

So according to LION no HSR will ever happen as long as we continue to fund AMTK.

But above all else, we need HSR, not to replace AMTK, but rather to replace AIRPLANES! There is no reason why short flights (everything east of the Mississippi) should continue. That is all HSR territory.

HERE IS REPORT OF LION.
