Hudson Valley, NY 'All Nighter'...24 hours of railfanning along the CSX Riverline

On a recent weekend, I hiked up to one of my favorite elevated railroad overlooks in the Hudson Valley, NY that offers a grand view of the old NYC West Shore and East Shore mainlines…now CSX and Metro-North lines

I spent the night at the overlook, not departing until nearly 24 hours later the following afternoon.

I put together a video/slideshow with some highlights of the all-nighter.

Certainly a grand seat for the spectacle - kind of like having a really well-detailed small-scale model railroad down on the floor. Or, like being one of the gods of mythology on Mount Olympus - maybe the ‘‘God of Hudson Valley Railroading’’ ?

I see you caught a meet on the MetroNorth side, and I liked the image of the 2nd SB CSX freight - the headlight in one view really stood out. I also liked the early morning shot - it’s not often you can be on solid ground, and have a view of the clouds below you !

Have you been on the newly opened path/ trail/ walkway on the Poughkeepsie Bridge yet ? Are there good views of the CSX line from there ?
