HUGE Bridge pics, Let's post them all in one thread.

I’m going to give it another try. If it comes through, it’s my Beichstahl bridge modification. Unlike Art’s, it only goes over a lake, not a spectacular canyon.

Nope. Did it again. The new forum is just not picture friendly for me. One of the several things about the new forum that I think is the Pits!

Tom [V]

I have only seen one once in person, but I would love to see pics of Overland Models, Great Northern Bridge Within a Bridge. That is truly an impressive bridge model. The below is the only info I could find out about it online…

Overland Models, Inc. has also released photos of their new bridge, and it’s a beauty. It is a model of Great Northern’s “bridge within a bridge” at Rock Island, Washington, just south of Wenatchee. It is being offered on a very limited basis; assembled in China and only 50 models will be produced. This impressive model is full scale and measures 57 1/2" long; the prototype is 416’-6". There are over 3,500 parts, and all are fully detailed. The price tag-not surprisingly-is $5,200 and the model is unpainted. Photographs of the model are in Model Railroad for February 2001, and on the back cover of Railroad Model Craftsman, March 2001 issue.

Tom, what I did was click on the link in your post. When that page opened up, I copied the URL and pasted it below. Then I put [ img] before the URL and [ /img] after the URL. You will have to remove the space after the opening bracket on each tag.

Hope this helps.

Tom

Tom–.Tried it, below is what I ended up with. Another blue link. Nuts!!

Tom…we all know you have some great bridges to show us and perhaps ya is jus batin us in anticipation…Ize ben sitin here 24 hours watin…Ies getin blury but iz aint going now where untill ya show us them pictures, …Were all pullin for ya…John

I do enjoy seeing the pictures but the gripe that I have with some of the other members here is how they reuse the picture as a quote in their responses. Why the heck do you people have to do that? There is no need for me to see 3-4 same pictures. We expect to see another new picture but it is just some forum dummy reposting it again. You guys do not need to do that. Justr respond without the picture in the quote

.

Hmmmm.

And which side of the bed did we get up on today? [;)]

I like having the pic in the quote so it is easier to refer back to what is being quoted.

Come on guys, lets post the pics and debate philosophy on another thread, lest we burn this one down. There are still some great bridges out there to be collected.

Gotta love the D&H I’m contemplating buying one of their GP38s in G Magnificent work Excellent scenery as well

Tom,

I can click on both of these as links to see the pictures. If you want the pictures to show up in your posts, you have to use the correct syntax, with [ img] and [ /img] (without the spaces after the “[” symbol).

Both of your links above are missing the “[” and “]” at the beginning of the line. If you put those in, the pictures should appear in the post.

Now, listen to ME talking! At first, I couldn’t post a picture here if my life depended on it! I started using Railimages and I could NEVER remember the proper syntax for posting pictures. Then I started using Photobucket. Every photo in my Photobucket album has three URL’s listed below it. The third URL is in the syntax used by this forum, and others. I just copy that link and paste it into a post and the picture shows up in my post. Since I started using Photobucket, I haven’t had ANY problems posting a picture, and I DON"T HAVE TO REMEMBER the syntax!! Great for those of us whose memory is fading faster than a snowflake in July!!

Someone complained about using the “quote” feature and reproducing pictures in the quote. For those on dial-up, it must be a real PIA having to wait for photos that you have already seen to show up in a quote! Sorry, I never thought about that! I’m not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree when it comes to computer savvy stuff!

John–thanks, buddy, I’m REALLY trying, but the new forum doesn’t seem to want to let me. I even used the [ img] [ /img] at the beginning and end, as I used to do on the old forum, and what I ended up was that mess of letters and numbers that you see on my last post. Fiatfan thought I might be using a Mac or Safari, but I’ve got the same PC that I’ve always had. Guess I’ll go see if I can get some help from Bergie on this. Hopefully, he’ll have some sort of solution. If not–well, no more pictures.

I can’t get the pics to work either, they show up on the preview page but not on the post, and [ img], [ /img] are replaced with

Well, we might want to try a new HUGE bridge pics thread. This one is already messed up by so many people quoting the pictures, discussing how to post a picture (even though it hasn’t changed a bit old to new form), and then the other stuff. Maybe everyone who posts a picture should check the “Do not allow replies” button!

Testing the locked thread problem. This is a reply to the previous post, not the last locked one.

And just to stay on topic, I’m building a really little bridge. It’s only long enough for one 38-foot hopper, and it will contain the coal dump unit for my old Mantua clamshell hoppers. Film at 11.

It’s kinda tricky apparently … sometimes when you add the img tags, the http address gets underlined and turns blue creating a hyperlink instead !?! As long as you can get the img tags on either end cleanly, the pix WILL show properly.

Sometimes you gotta go in through the back door … [;)]
