HUGE COMPLAINT ABOUT COMPLAINTS!!!!!

I have a huge complaint about people coming on these forums, posting a ‘rant’ and not accepting any sort of solution.

STOP THE INSANITY.

David

I still don’t know which system makes the best toast! And it’s starting to get near lunchtime already!

Hmmmm…It’s going to be one of THOSE days…[V]

Oh yeah? Well, I have a complaint about complainers who complain about complaining!

RANT-RANT-RANT!!!

Seriously, I’m with you on this one.

When someone posts a rant, I wonder what the expect to happen:

  1. Everyone agrees with them? Not likely.

  2. People will try to help them out? More likely, but then like you say 9 times out of 10 they’ve already made up their minds and so will not hear any potential solutions.

  3. They’ll be branded a whiner? This is the most likely answer. Like that gentleman on one of the other forums who was ranting about the ashpan on Athearn’s new N scale DCC/sound UP Challenger… possibly the “gold standard” in N scale RTR steam.

People will always find something to whine about, no matter how good we have it in this hobby or this life.

Where’s my toast?

[soapbox] I’m guilty— I think. Only real complaint I’ve made is that manufacturers see a profit in producing locomotives and rolling stock for, in my case Erie, the caboose era railroads but fail to supply a caboose, even a generic one. I think there is only one made and it’s out of my reach as far as price goes. OOPS, did it again. Oh well, I have excepted the fact that paint and decals will be the solution, but Erie caboose decals are like finding hens teeth. I post this as not a “rant”, just “venting”. [:-^] OBW, thanks to those that helped in finding decals and pointed me in the right direction. Only solution to this problem I see though is for those mfgrs to offer cabooses in the same road names as their locos. I’d even settle for a generic one. Ken

Perhaps folks who just want to rant should put “No Reply Accepted” in their topic title. [(-D]

Or maybe in addition to the “Coffee Shop” (and it’s many bretheren) we could have the “Whine and Cheez Shop” . [:o)]

Enjoy

Paul

HAH! Or a Complaint Forum…it would contains hundreds of posts without any replys

David

[:)][#ditto]

I agree with all the above the forum has not been as much fun to peruse lately. The posts about a layout or actually “Help” topics are buried under the flames and Huge complaints. Dave V., Bob G., Arthill, Jeff W and the many other awesome modelers: Thank you!!! for your inspirations and help. I will now crawl back into my little cave and just read the constructive posts.

Kevin

yeah I think I came off as ranting about a few things too. I’ll agree today is a good day to stop that.

Well, I think people gets frustrated easily these days and yet there are avenues of blowing off steam as easily as the old days. Seriously, I would say let them complain and just ignore it, otherwise they might go and start shooting people…[B)]

Should we start placing bets on how long it will take before this topic disappears? [swg]

Complaints on this (or any) forum are a fact of life. The quickest way to put an end to such topics is to ignore them AND POST NO REPLIES. You’d be surprised how quickly a topic can get buried into obscurity if no one hits the reply button.

But the effectiveness of this method requires 100 percent participation, which unfortunately will never occur. There are just a few too many out there that can’t seem to keep their hands off their keyboard - even if their life depended on it!

So I guess we’ll just have to find a way to live with it. Besides, there are worse things in life.

[:o)][:)]Boy, some people got nothin’ better to do than complain.[:)][:o)]

Sorry, but you are going to have to endure my ranting for another three and a half months because my license to rant is only valid during those months with no 'r’s in them and, therefore, will not expire until the first day of September I paid for it and I intend to use every minute of it.

“You must pay the rant!”
“But I can’t pay the rant!”
“You must pay the rant!”
“But I can’t pay the rant!”
“I’ll pay the rant!
“My haro!””

Good one, R. T.

I do have a somewhat serious complaint about posts that only approximate written English but follow no rules regarding spelling, punctuation, grammar, and capitalization. Certainly my posts have their share of mistakes, but are hopefully understandable by most.

C’mon folks… Nobody taught you in school to capitalize verbs, to use apostrophes for plurals, to start a sentence with a lower case letter, etc. The rules of the language exist so that we can all understand it. Otherwise it’s like driving on a highway where each driver makes up his/her own rules.

Sounds like Atlanta.

The rant and complaint forum is a good idea, as well as a toast forum. I am thinking that Hamilton Beach has some of the better toasters out there. I agree with you, but put on your firesuit and prepare for the barrage of angry posts headed your way.
