Winds gusting well over 60 to 70 mph. Snow falling to the rate of 1 to 2 inches an hour. White out conditions. What else could go wrong. Interstate 80 from Lincoln to North Platte closed due to this Powerfull Winter Storm. I have knotced that there are hardly any UP Trains running on the Blair sub today. I did see one Eastbound earlyer. Does anyone know if this Huge Blizzard is haveing a major inpact with the UP and the BNSF Railway’s Traffic flows on the East West Overland Route here in Nebraska? Everyone Please stay safe out there. This is one HELL of a Storm. I understand that North Platte had well over a Foot and a Half of Snow and Drifts well over 4ft too.
Thanks,Allan.
Hey I heard you guys got about a foot of ice in areas. And you can have it in Philly as long as it misses my area The looks of it its coming but I dont think we are going to get hammered here.
Oh well tis the season. Stay safe man.
What’s going to “stay frosty” longer–the brakeman or the fluffy stuff?
(In Chi-town we’ve got the wind, but no precip yet. Temperature has dropped to just above freezing, as we speak, from a high of 58. We may wake up to some rough traveling tomorrow, which I can opt out of, since it’s my day off.)
I would giggle like crazy if we got a good central PA snow here in philly. People can’t drive here normally, so snow would clear the most idiots out of my way.
It missed us by just a hair - went just north of us - did give us a great rain before it got here, tho. Central Nebraska is a mess and we all shared the wind. Now it is everyone east of us that will be a mess. North - blizzard and south - rain and bad weather and a Houston Blysard…
My duaghter left here Sunday to go back to Nevada. She called yesterday afternoon from somewhere in the middle of Nebraska and said, “They blocked off I-80. Can they do that?” I said yeah, sure. She said why? I asked how far can you see? 100 ft. How about the wind? Oh yeah, there’s a truck blown over in the ditch. Not to worry though, she called from a hotel room, so she was at least smart enough to get a room, plus it sounded like a party going on in the background.
Here in IL, it was 58 yesterday; today might make it to 30 but only flurries (and wind!).
