Hypothetical BN paint schemes

So, just for hypothetical discussion, what would BN have done for paint schemes in the 1990s.

In the 1990s, ATSF went back to their super fleet warbonnet scheme. However switchers and road switchers still wore yellow an blue. For example, their LNG switcher they tried out.

With that in mind, do you thikn (just guess, I like this sort of concept) considering that they put their executive paint on their big road engines, do you thin they would have kept cascade green for switchers and stuff (like, if they had lasted long enough to buy gensets?

Also, if they were going to use the Excecutive scheme exclusively, were there plans to ultimately repaint the whole fleet?

I think we would still be seeing Cascade Green. They had that scheme refined to a thing of beauty right before the merger.

BN had two schemes at merger time with the ATSF:

  • Grinstein Green/white fo rthe Executive fleet and the AC traction motor SD70MAC’s
  • Cascade Green ‘White Face’ for the rest of the fleet.

Now BNSF is painting 27 freight cars in ‘Heritage’ schemes…

Your opinion - The GREEN & WHITE/ KABOOM IN THE NIGHT folk’s paint schemes were as regretable and as unimaginative as Penn Central’s IMHO.

WooHoo! - 27 Different versions of Oxide Brown/ Primer Red?
