I guess we could always start a support group… who wants to offer up their house for a meeting…
Hey I know what you mean, I used to do cars and military and now my 13 year old wants to do military and I want to join him. Mostly to keep the teenager interested in something…
Anyways good luck

PCarrell, the guy that owned the Hemi Under Glass Cudas (Jim Riggle) used to live in Prescott, AZ. He used to come down every year for an all Mopar meet.
And Zepher, the original 426 Hemi debuted in 1964 at Daytona… finished 1-2-3 if I’m not mistaken.
I’m building a 71 Hemi Challenger on the side right now.( Call me Plumb Crazy)
The Kalmbach “Scale Auto” forum is a great place to hang out too… http://www.scaleautomag.com/sca/community/forum/
Summitt Racing sells a 528 (yes, a 528) C.I. Hemi for about 15 grand.(that’s #1 on my Lotto wish list)[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]
Hello…my name is J.W. and I kinda miss Tanks. Been doing the Train thing for a solid 13 months and I must say MAN I wan that Panther to build. Thought also a bout putting a War Museum on the layout so I could still have a Tank or Two to build.
Actually it was 1-2-3-4, lol. All the Pontiac, Chevy and Olds drivers where not happy because the 426 Hemi at the time was only a race engine and not offered in any Mopar in 64. In 65 the Mopar guys lost the Hemi because Nascar told them you either offer it in a production vehicle or you can’t race with it. In 66 the Hemi was back and the first production 426 Hemi’s were offered to the public in all the B-body cars. B-body cars were the Charger, Road Runner, Super Bee, Satellite, GTX, and Coronet R/T’s.
Model car building is another one of my hobbies and I really enjoy it. Its amazing what you can do and just like model trains there is a ton of aftermarket detail parts available. My latest project is a 1993 Texaco Havoline Ford Thunderbird driven by the late Davey Allison. I’ve probably built over 200 model cars and trucks and I have around 75 stashed away in a closet waiting their turn.
Yup, my brain took a siding and I was thinking of Ford’s 429 Boss Hemi. Pitty they don’t let the manufacturer’s really compete anymore. Making everyone “even” sort of defeats the purpose.
Hey, I’ve got this thing about model sailing ships. Haven’t built one since I was in college, but if anyone ever came out with an HO scale model of the HMS Victory or the USS Constitution, I’d have to put a Port on the Yuba Sub. Or at least a VERY big lake, LOL!

I personally dont know what all the fuss is about. I am a model railroader but I also buil dmodel cars. The railroad usually wins when I want to work on a car. Currently I am working aon a 69 Dodge Charger, DAle Eanrhardt Srs Lumina and a 1970 Camaro so its ok if we have two hobbies I just wish i could finish one of them lol.
Buy the Cuda or you’ll be kicking yourself for a long time. I like trains and model cars(plastic and diecast), tanks, motorcycles so I prefer to think I’m diversified in my interests (obsessions actually). So forget the “support” group and enjoy yourself. About 1965 Chrysler started developing a 4 valve per cylinder overhead cam 426 Hemi to compete against Ford and GM’s possible engine upgrades for racing. Ford was developing their 427ci single overhead cam motor (Hemi heads), Chrysler showed a concept model to NASCAR whereupon seeing it NASCAR outlawed any special limited production engines (less than 500 motors).
Ah, the Ford Boss 429 Hemi… I remember Mickey Thompson putting one in a Mustang funny car driven by Danny Ongais. Couldn’t seem to keep the thing together long enough to become a force. But the 428 Super CJ in a Talladega was another thing entirely!! Hmmm… I wonder if they make HO scale stock cars… I know they modeled the Hamburg soccer stadium in that super dooper layout over in Germany. I wonder if anyone’s thought of modeling Talladega or Charlotte Motor Speedway…
OK - enough already. This is why I have the Discussion forum bookmarked. f you look around the rest of this site there are all sorts of modelling forums and there just isn’t enough time in the day for them all. Too bad - despite working on vintage race cars all day, and the layout in the evenings, I still have a couple dozen aircraft models and at least twice that many car models stashed away unbuilt. Just not enough time for it all, but the point Pc is that I buy them anyway as you never know when you’ll see them again. Go for it. [:D] J.R.
