Here’s my plan: Take the Polar Express car with the Hobo and Fire and make it more realistic. My thought is to rip off that cheap looking plastic “fire” and replace it with some flickering orange/red lamps, and conceal them using small sections of real twigs. Professor Nelson said he had designed some circuitry in his younger days to make the lamps “flicker”.
Hopefully, it will be a simple mod, and all of you with that car can add it to your Polar Express “Disappearing Hobo” car…I’ll try and do the drawings like we did with those LEDs several years ago.
The icing on the cake would be to add a fan driven smoke unit and send the smoke up the center of the “fire”. Stay Tuned…
Town and country hobbies have a burning barrel that reall looks cool. I have 2 on my layout here is the site and the page for it. I bought them for $10 each. Gives off a good fire in a barrel. I guess you could get the leds separetly?
Jim, one minor detail you missed. The hobo’s hat does not look to be genuine Texass cowboy. It’s about 9 gallons too short. Try lengthening it by cutting in a piece of soda straw with super glue.
