I began the construction of the benchwork!!

Well i am very happy that i finaly began my layout. Here are some foto.

Do you see something wrong? Was i exaggerated in the construction?

One thing bother me now and is the scenery. If i understand correctly i need to use foam for base only if the scenery have places under the truck level so that it should be easy to cut.But what about small details of the ground? The final result only with plywood can it be good?

Looks good and congratulations. If there is a lot of activity in the train room, (kids, dogs vacume cleaners etc.) you may wish to brace the legs.

You can put scenery dirrectly on the plywood in many ways.

1, Paint the ply brown or green and apply grass and bushes. It is harder to get trees in ply than foam.

  1. You can put 1/8 to 1/4 inch of ground goop on the ply and get small hills. Then the grass etc.

  2. You can build up plaster cloth scenery directly to the ply

  3. You can stack chunks of foam to make mountains on the ply.

  4. About all you can’t do is go below the ply without cutting.

I did put a pond on top of ply just with a ground goop basin. worked well.

The Benchwork looks good. I agree with Art about the bracing. I am curious how you plan to deal with the window. Congratulations on a good start.

John

About the window i’ll change it and it will open from the top.

My layout plan is this(photo). The green track will be hidden.Do you think it’s ok or i should add anything? Maybe a track (orange) to an upper level.I will make a mountain there to hide the other track (second photo)
