I believe that I saw a caboose this morning

Hello all,

On my way to work this morning in the early twilight, I saw what appeared to be a caboose attached to a UP southbound train from Durant, OK, heading toward the Red River bridge which crosses US 75 near Denison, TX. Did I see a ghost train or is the real deal?

Real Deal. Now I will let the “pros” explain why. (work train, shoving platform, etc.)

We have one here in the Lincoln yards that they use with a very old switcher and do a lot of shoving around with it.

I did, I did see a puddy tat…oops I mean a tabboose (errr, make tha caboose)

This may have been a work train with only 4 or 5 cars attached. Thanks, Terry

Some of those way cars (I never know for sure what the plural is of caboose) have been all boarded up as a a safety factor and they just use them for a ride.

I am sure later today someone will have more on this.

On Local Freight Trains there are still Cabooses for the Trainmen.

matt and I saw the y101 on csx with its caboose today. It was switching omni.

stay safe

I associate cabooses on modern trains to be a security detail overseeing a movement.

I’ve seen them used as pusher, but most the time they’re use for the crew when backing blind across streets.
