That had to be one amazing and beautiful structure in it’s day. Judging by the size, and how spread out it is, I bet it was always being added on to, and updated, probably kept a lot of tradesman working. Now I have to do a search and see if I can find any pictures of when it was in operation.

You’d have to have a pretty good-sized space to model the Buffalo Terminal - even in N-scale. I’m glad that they are trying to restore her.
It’s too bad that the LS&MS station in Detroit is in such sad shape. There was talk about renovating her. However, between the vandals and Detroit’s financial horizon, there’s little chance of that happening - if ever. Sad. [:'(]

Believe it or not but John Armstrong did a track plan for the PRR & NYC use of this station on a relatively small layout in the first trackplan book they did of custom Armstong track plans.

I used to visit this when I was a kid. Described as “centrally located, in the middle of nowhere”, the projected growth for that area of the city did not happen the way they had imagined. I rode the Penn Central to Detroit out of this place. The BCT website says (I think) that the terminal was never fully occupied…

An absolutely fascinating area and an incredible amount of trackage in its heyday. I’m brainstorming making a backdrop of the building itself with a modest amount of trackage related to it. But then, I also want NYC’s Gardenville Yard and PRR’s Ebenezer Yard and Bison Yard – not to mention other area yards – may have to settle for one or two yards and just switch name signs from time to time.

Tristess…Quelle domage… I’m from the Milwaukee area and we lost the two big German castles that served the MILW and C&NW a lo-o-o-ng time ago. I left to join my parents in Rhinelander, WI, from the lakeside NorthWestern station after I graduated high school in '58. Now, THAT was railroad architecture! It’s a shame the U.S. didn’t use its railroads the way the Europeans did—and still do!
