Thanks to everyone for the inputs. I now have a basic question about installing them on a layout.
The frog has a wire attached to the frog to power it. That is great. Since it is already there, how do I place it on the layout? It is no problem if I know the exact location but usually just position it on the table and try it out. This approach would bend and possibly break the wire.
Any suggestions?
You will have to drill a hole under the frog for the wire or if you use cork roadbed, you can cut a small slot for the wire to run out to one side. You should be able to determine where the hole needs to be by following the ‘ties’ that are next to the wire and then drill about a 1/4" dia hole to allow for some adjustment. As far as bending the wire, it should bend easily without breaking. I have done this many times without the wire breaking.
