Welcome mhudman!
You should ask this question on the “Classic Toy Trains” Forum. No worries, you’re not the first to confuse “Classic Trains” with the other and trust me, you won’t be the last!
I’m into toy trains myself but I’ve no idea what you have. It’s interesting though!

Thanks, I will do that.

Somewhere, I have some of this style track. I believe I found reference to who made these trains at one time, but can’t remember now. It was a Japanese firm (or two?) that manufactured them. I don’t think this streamliner was the only one offered. This appears to be track powered, my track is un-insulated and I think would have been used with a mechanical or battery set.

Check around the bodies of the equipment for any kind of marking or insignia, that might help narrow it down.

Japanese makes sense: the front of that engine looks like Godzilla’s face!

The set comes with the power pack and I did test it and it works very well. Locomotive has plenty of power. I have examined all the cars as best I can and there are no markings whatsoever for an identification. The front of the locomotive looks like it has the Union Pacific Emblem, but no letters. The passenger cars are connected with square cubes, all tin.

I love the combo of Union Pacific and Santa Fe
