I did it. I went Cold Turkey, and so help me I've got the shakes.

After reading “The eBay Effect”, I decided I have more stuff than I can build in a year. So I quit my searchs, and the items I am watching are zero.

I’m planning to take the time and work. (no I just checked, no fever.) Time to get my butt in gear and make some extra money to fund my model railroad habit.

This is going to be worse than giving up coffee.

I know how you feel. Everything I’ve ordered has come in. I’m not tracking any FedUps packages, or running out to the mailbox every 10 minutes, either.

It must be something in the air. I quit about a month ago. I have gotten a lot done on the layout since. I have more than enough to keep me busy for a few years.

Set yourself a simple rule: You have to build one kit before you can buy another kit!

Ah, were it that simple. You do a search on something you need and all of a sudden you have 20 items that would fir perfect on your layout. You bid on the one you need and and fpr the heck of it bid 30-40% of retail on ones that would work really well on your layout.

And you win a few–really get good deals–so you look again. And get more deals. And again. and Again.

Breathe in- breathe out. Okay, I can do this.

Easy does it.

Ive seen people with new houses go thru this in the stores.

Maybe MR should start a article regarding Ebay.

I know this theory sounds good and will save you lots of money in the long run, but in reality it’s better to buy and build a number of kits to see how they are going to work out on the layout…i’m going thru that right now…gonna build a bunch of kits i’ve purchased over the last few years to see how it’s going to look and if I have room for all of them when i’m done…chuck

Famous last words, Chuck. [:)]

you’re probably right selector…everytime the walther’s catalog comes out I start to uncontrollably drool and my credit card misteriously falls out of my wallet…[:D]…chuck

E-Bay is calling you! Give in to the dark side! One more search won’t hurt. Go ahead.
Just one little ittsy bittsy search.

Been there and done that SpaceMouse. It’s hard to give up ebay when you’re use to logging on almost every day and buying things. It’s been a couple of months since I’ve bought any buildings-and only because there’s no place else to put them… As for rolling stock. I still buy a car or two here and there when ever I’ve got the extra money.
I’ve never seen a person yet that’s gotten into this hobby that said “this is all I’m going to buy and that’s it!” that actually did so. 99.9% of the time they end up being bitten by the train bug and away they go (myself included).

Good luck Chip. Contact a support group if you have to. There’s help out there…

Spaced out Mouse

You say that NOW - but you really don’t MEAN it.

Take two Vitamin’s and call me in the morning.

USE the PATCH dude, The PATCH!

No, not the one you stick on your arm…

the one you use to cover your eyes so you can’t look at the computer screen !

Unless there’s a fire sale on sound locos(I’m DC) the Concor HO Z is my last rolling
stock purchase.

I can’t run what I have so I may have to initiate a fire sale.

Well good for you Space. I can quit ebay at any time I choose too. Really, I’m not hooked…

I couldn’t quit if my life depended on it. I have way to much fun looking for stuff to even think about quitting.

I finally went on last night and spent about 15 minutes looking at what all the fuss is about. Looks like a good place to be from.

Still, I do intend to attempt to acquire a nice, maybe brass, loco on e-bay just to say I’ve done it. Look out, Tom.

After going on a bit of a binge over the last month or so, I quit looking for stuff on Ebay. I did watch one item (Tomar crossing gates w/Tortise machines) for a day or so, but when the price went over $50 I quit watching and started planning an LTS trip.

Since I’ve ordered an MP15DC “gold” version, and we are starting to look for a house to buy, my shopping will be extremely restricted until next year.

At least it had better be.

I have been doing some mad ebay buying for a while, but my needs are slowly whittling down, and my watch list has been shrinking.
But I found me some good stuff to match my modeling needs. yeppers.
But I will be turning around and sell off some junque I dont want.

YOU GAVE UP COFFEE!!!

You are a stronger man than I my friend…
