Well I received my new N scale Spectrum N&W J class yesterday from Trainworld (on sale for $69.95). Although it’s numbered #601 and has incorrect valve gear, and shiny chrome handrails on cab and tender, I am AMAZED at the detail! The workmanship seems good also. I am pleasantly surprised as I had a Bachmann J n scale about 14 years ago, and it was CRAP! I have already blacked-out the proper grab rails, and repaired a broken handrail stanchion on the boiler, and she looks really nice. Now I need to pull out my N scale layout I built on a hollow door about 14 years ago, and see how this thing runs. I got my fingers crossed, and I hope Bachmann baffles me again with a great running loco!! I hope this thing will negotiate the 11.5" curves on my door…

Congrats! There’s little more thrilling than getting a new locomotive! Hopefully you’ll have the “Powhattan Arrow” cruising your rails in the future!
