I have a problem, i think its gonna be costly

No, it shouldn’t. 3-6 volts should get it to turn, and not too fast-- Post back your results–

ok thanks brb…

good news i hope…the motor is a spining…wheels a moving…

but i forgot to un hook the smoke unit

That’s OK!! as long as the power pack doesn’t overload, that means that the smoke unit is almost certainly OK. Unfortunately, this means that there are only two other things wrong-- the tether has failed, or the locosound board has failed. Either one means that the engine will need to be repaired–

and this will cause it to not run on tracks?..this is not good…is there a way to run it with out the sounds?

Yes, if the tether has an open wire or broken pin that happens to be the wire that goes to the motor, the board could be ok, but since the voltage doesn’t get to the motor, it would not run. What I suggest you do is open up the tender, and see if there are any broken wires, unplugged connectors, etc. Also look at the circuit board to see if there are any burned parts, etc.

It’s up to you if you want it repaired, it may actually cost more than buying another engine from Ebay or other places. There are aftermarket boards that will get it running, but you won’t have anything but a whistle and bell sound. Personally, I’d try to get it repaired by the MTH service center, but that’s just my opinion, for what it’s worth----

the tether looks fine …i cant see or smell anything burnt…what about these wires haveing them wire nuts on them?

the tender looks good… is there a way to test the tender? maybe by the on off switch?hooking power to it?

so theres no way to run this ?

even if it means losing sound?i wasnt gonna use the real trax anyways
