I have am having a problem

I just bought a uncoupular fast track and i guess i can not figure out the wireing from the directions. Could someone please help me out. I know from the direction that it says not to conect to my cw80. But why not?

Thanks-

Matt

The magnet draws its power from the track and pushing the button probably is making the ground, or the opposite. If you understand the wiring you may be able to connect the magnet to accessory power, I haven’t looked at one that close yet.

This question was asked and answered on the Yahoo FasTrack forum earlier this week. The bottom line: If you have a revised version of the CW-80 (the “G” type) you can safely ignore the warning and proceed as usual.

However, if you have one of the early-version CW-80s, you must either heed the instructions or use the work-around of connecting the A and B posts (the actual “commons” on the original version) to the outside rails. This will likely result in a reversal of the whistle/horn and bell buttons, which I find annoying, but you can always re-label them and it will work.

Why is this? Because the early versions of the CW-80 (all of them) were mis-wired at the factory and would not work as expected. The instructions were written prior to the corrected “G” models, and evidently have not been revised. The uncoupler track is not the only FasTrack section that experiences this problem. The “remote switches” will encounter the same problems if you try to use the CW-80 “throttle side” to power the track, and the “accessory side” to provide “Aux power” to the switches. Some other sections are also affected, as I recall.

Check for that Made in China “G” date code on the bottom of the transformer first. I hope it’s there.
