i have one quick question

i have an O27 scale uncoupler, and i am missing the push button. what could i use to (maybe a toggle or something) to make a switch button, and how to hook it up properly.

A toggle would work fine, such as this one: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062537#

The instructions for the toggle if you were to buy one would most likely instruct how to hook it up.

If what you have is a 6-5149, which looks like this:

all you need to do is connect the terminal on the bottom to one terminal of an SPST momentary switch or pushbutton, like this one:

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062501&filterName=Type&filterValue=SPST

Then connect the other terminal of the switch to the transformer terminal that is also connected to the center rail of the track, or to an accessory voltage whose return is connected to the outside rails of the track.

I advise against using a non-momentary switch, because you could burn out the electromagnet coil by energizing it for more that a second or two at a time. If you would like to have one of the Lionel pushbuttons that came with the track, let me know and I will mail you one.

going on with what bob said I have used an old door bell button so I didn’t have a continuous power to it

yes that is what it looks like , and i will go look for a push button. thank you
