My wife has finally negotiated with me and I have been able to aquire a 9’ 6" wide by 4’ 10"deep area in the computer room to build my first layout. The only thing I don’t like is that theres a window in the middle of the one wall. negotiations were tough throughout the weekend but I finally got there. No more hot garage corner for me!!![:)][:)][:)]
Great news!
I’ve had a great time with my round the computer layout, just a temporary one.
Ken.
And I thought you saved a bunch of money on your car insurance.
Now you can run the trains and be on this forum at the same time [;)].
Now that’s funny! [(-D] [:D]
From what they are predicting for heating prices this winter, I believe you made a smart move. I guess I will have to get only the chill off with my garage heater and start wearing longhandles. [:D]

what did she get in the deal??
she got too much. plus I still have to entirely clean the garage anyway. Good trade off though, Florida summers are brutal so I am glad I will be able to build indoors.
That is good news.

I got her piano studio, and it didn’t matter what I traded, we both won. Its good to have a spouse that supports the trains.
Glad about the success. I have a trade off after the move. I have a lot more space, but its all unfinished basement! We installed some worklights, and I have lots of space and plenty of tables to store things, now all my locos and rolling stock are on a table right next to my layout, I can put things on to enjoy and take them off when im done with no hassle, and there is lots of storage space. When the basement is finished, which will hopefully be in a year, it will be the best of both worlds
Yoshi, I’m in the same boat. I have a 10 x 14 foot train room, but it isn’t finished, so I can’t do anything as of now.[B)]
Ah-h-h-h-h…the wonders of CLUB modeling!!! Negotiations not required!!
But way to go in getting your OWN SPACE!!..Now to planning and building. Be sure to keep us posted with pictures and dialog.
Thats great to hear. Good luck with it.
Moving out of a Fla garage is a smart ,cheaper move! I still have to spend about 2 grand on my building for insulation and inviromental controls before I start doing anything serious.(not to mention the added electric cost). Hope you didn’t have to give up too much on your end of the deal.
Interesting - I’m happy to have gotten a garage! The house we just bought only had a single-car garage, and the concrete work wasn’t done terribly well, so putting a car on it would be a bad idea.
But once I finish putting up drywall and insulation, it should be quite nice.
