Got mine the week end and i like them. One Railbox has a broken step so i called Exactrail to get a replacement but they were closed.
I have only seen their products in the store, but they sure look good. Here in a while I am slowly plan on adding to my rollinbg stock fleet, I am tempted to invest in the ExcatRail line of products. Thanks for the comments.
Has anyone purchased the HO UP ARMN reefers that Exact Rail has released? I seen they had about 25 road #'s that they were planning to release I guess I dont know if theyre on the market yet or not.
You do realize that the ER depressed center flats are not an actual model of any real flat car, right? They took several prototypes and made a make-believe car, AKA a mixed breed mutt. And they are charging $27 for it.
“Plain awesome”? Sorry, but an awesome model should be based on an actual prototype or be a heckuva lot cheaper. Paying the going rate (new Atlas & Athearn cars are in the $25-$30 range, for the most part) for a total fabrication is just adding insult to injury.

Seems strange doesn’t it but,Athearn and Walthers RTR cars is creeping up to the $25.00 slot as well.Even the Trainman cars is inching up in price.

I guess your ‘awesome’ and my ‘awesome’ are two different things. To me an ‘awesome’ model means that it looks right, is well detailed and nicely built. If it fits my era and I like it, I don’t care if it’s completely accurate or not.
Simple enough…if you like it, buy it…if not…
Since I’ve been paying $70 for Walther’s Passenger cars and a plastic building that’s 4 walls and a roof I think $25 for a well-decorated thoughtfully manufactured freight car needs to be noted. Exactrail and Trainman have been given their kudos.
Anytime rivet counters and the prototype police get involved then for me, the hobby is just not fun anymore and it reminds me of being at work. I’ve read posts on both forums already about what date of manufacture of what order of what series of depressed-center flats these match and how the roads offered don’t match that, etc. I guess I have no reason to apply “accountability” principles to a hobby that I enjoy as a release from job-related stress.
Value is fun.
