With all this “high falluten” talk yall are shootin around, like we say down here, I’ve figured out a name for the logging portion our layout. “Po Man’s Logging Company”. Yall seem to think the Bachmann Spectrums are the middle of the road. They may be, but besides a Rivarossi and a Proto 2000, (that were both gifts), the Spectrum is the best I have. It may be better than those two. I don’t know yet, cause it ain’t got here. I thought the Spectrums were pretty darn good. I mean…not everybody can go out and buy a Trix. No offence to Trix owners. They’re awful nice. I’ve seen one in action. I drooled, but I know I’ll never have one. Groceries are too important. They way I see it though, is, if a plain non Spectrum Bachmann is all a guy can afford, at least he’s in the hobby. I have a couple of small steam locos…I don’t remember the names, one may be Bachmann, I think one is Model Power. I’ll convert um both to DCC and use the snot out of um. And be proud of it. I’m just thankful to be back in the hobby, and to have found this site.
Probably the locos run well because of the “love” ,attention, and care bestowed upon them. Continue to enjoy the hobby!

Ha! You think?
I looked this morning. My two smaller steamers are a 4 0 4 Model Power, and a 4 0 4 AHM. I know…they ain’t worth snot, right? They’r still gonna get converted to DCC with sound.
Test the current draw and get a DCC decoder rated high enough otherwise it might be fried pretty quick. Decoder might cost more than the loco.
Thanks. I’ve been reading on DCC probably for the last two months. Trust me, I ain’t gonna spend all the money to convert them, just to toast some hard work. And yeah, I know darn well one sound decoder will cost three times what the Life Like (I thought it was Model Power) unit cost. But you know what? I’m going to convert them both anyway, because 1) I want all the locos I am GOING to use to be DCC converted. 2) I want the experience!! I got my decoder yesterday for my Shay that ain’t here yet…and I already did everything I can do on it without the loco. Man is it going to be an EASY install. I had FUN doing it, and I’m going to have fun with the rest of them. Last time I checked, I thought that’s what this was all about.
