Anyone who watches Trains and Locomotives on RFD TV has seen “I Love Big Trains” for the last few weeks.(Narrated by the same kid that did I Love Toy Trains.) Though I find the kid a bit annoying and the music really corny, I must give the little Devil his due, I’ve learned quite a few things from watching. They had a good segment on signaling that answered some questions I had. They just seem to have these neat little factoids on the show that make the light bulb click for me.
Anybody else getting anything useful out of it?
(PS-I realize the kid is reading a script someone wrote for him)
Hey Lothar Ol’ Buddy,
Would this be the airing that is at the unholy hour of 5am? I attempted to set my TiVo to record them but for some reason it didn’t. (so easy an eight year old can do it? then where is this kid, I need him)
Alas, I’ll give it another try. Perhaps I could save all the hassle by going to RFD-TV’s www site or DirecTV and finding all this out from them. But what kind of fun would that be and no communing with fellow rr’ers here on the boards.

(didn’t Fellini make some remark about Big Trains going in and out of Tunnels?)
You bet’chum, Red Rider!!! I’ve caught these last two weeks and I have found this particular series - I Love Big Trains - to not only be entertaining but also informative. I particularly enjoyed the segment(s) on the South Shore[/i].
Of course he is!!! I’m not sure just who that ‘someone’ might be but I do find it somewhat ironic that his last name of McComas is shared by the producer. Hum-m-m-m-m-! It is strange indeed that this kid would get hired by someone with the identical last name! Strange indeed! Do you think they might, in some eerie way, be related? I do suppose that if my pappy was chairman of the board of XYZ Industries, Inc I would at least be president of XYZ Industries, Inc.
No disparagement intended; the kid does do a good job at narration!
Printer- I’ve got Dish Network. It’s on at 8:00 Central, so 7:00am your time. Go to RFDTV.com to check for Direct TV. (I know…That’s no fun…[V])
RT- Never bothered to watch the credits. The kids gotten better since the Toy Trains show.
Found one thing strange on today’s show. They were showing the electric motor car segment. They showed that guy wiping off the electrical connectors before he coupled up the cars. Then they showed them retracting the pantograph([?]) down from the overhead power grid.
Wouldn’t you want to kill the power FIRST before wiping the contacts by hand???[xx(][:O]
I watched those episodes too, and saw a lot of mistakes, both in descriptions of various equipment and operations as well as some poor editing, like the wiping off of the electrical contacts…if there was power flowing then the worker was in danger of electrocution.
But all in all it is entertaining, the muzak WAS horrible though!![(-D]
