But my real passion is duplicating the paint jobs - my summer project is to duplicate a 2363, and a 2356. I have two originals that are rough - but they serve as a guide for the painting. I like to buy good 2353 shells that may have poor paintjobs but are otherwise ok. Then I burn up countless hours trying to duplicate my originals.
Does anyone else have this madness? I seem to enjoy it alot.
I admire anyone who has the patience for what you are doing. I like my trains, but I’m not fond of building scenery and buildings and painting. It is part of building a layout, and I know I’ll enjoy the trains a lot more when it is done.
I’ve done a Santa Fe B-Unit which I later sold and painted and old F-3 cab that had been painted into T&P and repainted it into a Canadian VIA, sadly that cab had an accident and is no longer with us. I haven’t seen as many old junkers lately at reasonable prices at local shows so I haven’t done anything lately.
