I met one of you at the doctor's office this afternoon

I was hesitant to introduce myself with that crazy nasty grumpy pair of women there with their canes at the ready to smack us both upside the heads for telling her not to be so nasty. Always nice to meet a fellow model railroad enthusiast outside the hobby shop.

actually, I know a guy who works for UP and I saw him on a train recently.

I was being vague because we know who we are if we don’t know exactly who we are.

I got that somewhat but are you trying to confuse us LOL.

Yes. Better?

Yes, better. Course I have met people who when I say I like trains, and that I model them, they say “I have lionel”. of course people think that Lionel is a brand model trains. When it is actually not.

I think the people in the CTT forum may want to debate that…

Have you checked your e-mails lately?

No. Then again, with a sick wifey, two active toddlers, three cats and intermittant breaks to sit at the computer and read about 6 axle diesels and such, all I’ve managed is to confuse people. [sigh]

Uh, just what drugs has that doctor put you on?

Take this test: Look at your child. Are you seeing double? You see, I thought so.

Ahhh…both of our spouses were at the doctor. We just warmed seats in the waiting area. Double? The boys are close but not identical by a long shot.

You can’t blame those old ladies - one is senile & the other gets her political news from MTV!![:D]

Lionel trains are model trains. Not all of them are scale model trains perhaps, but I’d say a 700E Hudson is a scale model train by anybody’s standards wouldn’t you?

They both had canes and you know who violent those anti-war types can get! They also knew we were train guys and internet users. They could be watching! [B)]

Ah yes, I have one of those Lionel O Scale Hudsons on a shelf in the train room. It dates back to my childhood when my dad, who was a Santa Fe engineer got me started at a very young age in model railroading. That hudson is the only piece I saved from our early layout in the 40’s and early 50’s. Dad let me have it when I got a home of my own and told me never to save it.

I had it sitting in an easy access location for many years until one time on tour, a guy saw it, and pulled out his wallet and offered me over $2000 in cash for it. His wife would have killed him, but I told him NO, then moved it to the fireplace shelf above the HO layout where it can’t be stolen easily.

Our Marx train is confused. The Loco is slightly detailed while the freight cars are flat sheet metal with painted on details. The tender is probably the least visually appealing. Still, many brands of all types of products do have different levels of quality. Lionel and other three rail O may be toy trains, but some of those toys sure look nice and they all look better than my pre-war Marx set.(Polar Express set for Christmas please Santa?)

Hi-Way Hobby on 17n in Ramsey has the sets last year that included some figures at a pretty good price!!

Actually I was talking about todays Lionel. SOme of their stuff is good, but a lot of it seems not to be a elegant quality. The 700E is their best 20th century model, of course HO models now are equal in that realism. I really liked Lionels HO line that had a few years ago. I saw a Challenger model and it looked like it was brass. BUt they should have done something more than with what they had. I heard about someone who bought many models when they dicountinued the line. The most realistic O-engine I have is a K-Line ATSF Pacific. BUT the best model I have is BLI SSW RSD-15.

Sorry to give you the bad news, Lionel is out of HO again - & probably permanently!! The Challenger & Veranda Turbine were good locos, but MTH & UP both sued for millions for patent/logo infringement - suit settled - Lionel almost out of business!! Oh well - it was fun while it lasted!![:P]

I’ll let Santa know about it. Thanks.
