I need coupler confirmation...

I recently purchased a 3-pack Atlas rolling stock, RTR. I’ve found that I want to incorporate the articulated knuckle couplers that came with this assortment (covered hopper, open 2-bay hopper and caboose in D&H). I had grown on the horn couplers, normally provided with the many blue-boxes I had built, but see this extra detail neccessary for my currently developing 4X11 HO…

Any ability to identify is appeciated…

they are probably accumate couplers and they are being factory installed in more equipment today. they will work with kadee or mchenry knuckle couplers and they definitly improve operation and apearance. kaydee’s are prefered and they make many types for different installations. i used to model in ho and all my equipment has kadee’s. i’m now in n scale and use either micro trains or accumates. i don’t bother with the uncoupler magnets as i use either a rixpic for n scale or bamboo skewers for ho at my clubs layout. if you want to run the older stuff with the horn- hooks make a transition car with a kadee at one end and a horn-hook at the other until you can replace the others.

Click on http://www.kadee.com

(1) Select the HO category. Then, scroll down just past the white box and just below it you will see “Kadee Coupler Conversion List”.

(2) Click on it and a chart of cars and locomotives categorized by manufacturer in alphabetical order. The matching Kadee coupler is listed next to each unit.

It’s a good idea to save this list into one of your folders or print it up. Comes in very handy as even cars and locomotives from the same manufacturer can use different coupler numbers. [;)]

Hope this helps! [:)]
