I’m having trouble understanding what blocking signals are. The only thing I know about blocks is what an absolute block - if a train is useing the block track another train can’t approch the block track until the occupyiing train leaves. Am I correct here?? Please tell me.[:D] Inquireing minds want to know[?][%-)]
block signals are a signal that goveren the movement of a train on that segment of track (the block) an absolut signal dose not mean that only one train can go into that block…what an absolut signal is…is a controll point of some kind…either an interlocking…a juction… or where tracks converge…deverg…or cross over… the signal at a CP is an absolut signal…meaning that the most restrictive indication you are going to get is STOP!!! not a restrcied proseed…your getting signal rules and DTC (dark territory ) rules on csx confused…in DTC territory…you get a block… dispatchers permistion to occupy a segment of track from the starting point to the end point of the block…with an abusolut block DTC authority… only 1 train is alowed in that block at one time…

‘Protect, THEN authorize’ is the sainted chant of every trainer of new Dispatchers…and sometimes it even gets through.
