I need help finding PRR Passenger cars in HO

Hi I was wondering if any one can point me in the direction to some PRR passenger cars. I am about to buy a PRR T-4 duplex (4-4-4-4) in the next couple of months, I am thinking of going with the Walthers streamline cars, but they don’t any cochas in PRR. So if any one could point me into the right direction, that would be real cool.
also dose any one know of any PRR websites that talk about the history of the Broadway limited and the cars that they used.
That would be cool if some one did. Thanks alot
Josh

The T1’s were first used on the first class name trains. The old Riv line actually made some of the cars including the square read observation, but the PRR never used domes and they also offered those.

I built my PRR train with many of the new Intermountain coaches that were used behind the T1’s. You need to purchase them with the older style PRR lettering and not the ones with the Keystone.

Bachmann also offered some fairly good looking sets for the PRR that were close in some respects and looked good at the time, but would need new couplers mounted on the body of the cars.

The PRR mixed up the consist with the steamline being first class named trains, but some of the older cars were added as needed. The PRR ran from St Louis pass my town of Effingham Illinois towards Indianapolis. I have pictures of the T1’s on trains like the Spirit of St. Louis and the Jeffersonian and they were great to see.

I have one of the BLI T1’s. It is a nice model and a great runner.

walthers has them

also www.discounttrainsonline.com has them.

Sounds good to me.

Hey I just wanted to say thank’s, this will help me alot.

Actually the T-1s (one of my all time favorite engines from growing up on th S Side of Chicago about 4 blocks from the PRR/NYC) didn’t work out all that well and as diesels came on line were relegated to secondary trains. Walthers has a PRR B-60 baggage car and express reefers in PRR but you could also use REX exp reefers. Walthers has heavywieght Pullmans RTR in PRR (good) and Branchline has them in kits (better). If youhit swap meets the Rivarrossi hvywt RPO, and s/l sleeper are PRR protypes and the Walthers 10-5 s/l sleeper would be an accurate car in PRRas would the 4-4-2

Josh;

For truly prototypical cars, see: http://merchandise.pennsyrr.com/WS4D_Cookie=7.23.03_11,11,47_50171/ms_laser.html

Many T-1s would up in mail and express service. Wlathers B60b, R50B cars are perfect. Also try Bachman coachs as they are PRR P70 variety that would have been thrown on the end of a mail and express train.

The Standard of the world railroad, as the Pennsylvania was called, did make some big mistakes. The T1 was in all of its Glory in 1946 and downgraded to express mail work by 1950. They are remembered for their good times but the E7’s ( EP20’s) from EMD started to take over the first class assignments when they were purchased in 47 and 48.

The PRR had decided to go with the diesel and that is the story. The high cost of maintenance on any steam engine and the problems with the poppet valves on the T1’s being hight maintenance caused the downfall of the T1 class. They were exciting to watch as they were very slippery and would spin on start up almost every time. This is not tolerated as track maintenance around stations and coaling towers was increased by the T1’s departures. Still, I remember seeing them east of Effingham at speed on the doubletrack and they were second to none at eighty to one hundred miles per hour.

The Standard of the world truely became standard with the diesel and finally went out of business.

The T1’s were great to watch and it was sad when we realized they were gone.

Hmmm…

Don’t forget to stick some NH cars on your mainline trains…

Walthers does do the Pennsy Livery as I’ve got a set for my T1 and some of the Bachmann heavyweights as well.
Good luck finding them[:)]

Doesn’t either Bethlahem or Easter Car Works make P70’s?
