I need help

I have just recieved several old train sets in an estate and would like some help determining the value. The oldest is from about 1920 it is an Ives complete set and there are about 5 more each a little newer. The newest is from around the late 60’s.Any info I could get would be really helpful, Thank you

Need to know scale, with being from 1920 I don’t think it will HO scale which is what most of here deal with. I would do a keyword search on prices guide for model trains. Pictures for chat rooms like this would help. For collectors having the original boxes is a big deal.

The oldest is O scale the rest are HO. I should have pictures by thursday I am pretty sure we have all of the original packages and thanks I will look up price guides.

Welcome to the forums.

May I suggest you go to the Classic Toy Trains forums, click on CTT at the top of this page. These forums are mostly HO and N scale folks.

Good luck,

If your looking at selling them, might I suggest the Classic Toy Trains forum.

Try and find a model railroad club in your area. Clubs have a lot of old time experts, and many clubs have members who deal in trains in their spare time. One of these guys may make you an offer to take the whole batch.

The real price arbitor these days is E-bay. Get on it and search for like items, see what they sell for. E-bay will yield the best prices. You need photos of each piece, with and without box, if you have boxes. And you need a description, scale, type, manufacturer, roadname, condition, (does it run?) and anything else you find. Then you have to wrap it and mail it after the check clears. You will realize the most money from E-bay, but it’s a bit of work. The batch price a dealer might offer will be less, 'cause he has to make a profit. You pays yer money and takes yer chance.
