I need info on transfer tables

I am modeling an area that had a transfer table which was built 1897 or so. I can’t find a real good picture of what it would of looked like. Is it safe to assume that most transfer tables built at that time were fairly similar in design? I would like any suggestions on where to find a picture or a drawing. The shop area is in Indiana and the railroad is CCC&StL. Also how did they move the table? Thanks.

Check out the rrfallenflags website. They also have pictures of structures if memory serves me correctly

I’ve seen a traverser - transfer table - in Sri Lanka that was driven by a small steam engine, but the typical drive system was an electric motor. Power was usually taken from trolley-style overhead with poles on the roof of the operator’s cabin, and controlled by a streetcar-type drum controller.

All the best,

Mark.

Typing “transfer table” into a Google Images search comes up with dozens of good examples
