From what I have seen, you will need black locomotives and gray freight cars, with some orange freight cars. Is this what you are looking for?

I found a lot of Illinois Central pictures at 24.73.20.167 ftparchive. There’s not alot of us IC modlers out here but some You might also do a google search for the Illinois Central historic society…Pardon the spelling … Cox 47

I am looking for information on how the IC operated and good sites to find IC timetables and other books on the IC.

There are several videos of Illinois Central available. For the time period you’re interested in, look at Historic Rail’s Web site (http://www.historicrail.com).

I would. Especially if you want info on a specific town that IC ran through.

True. Im planning my lifetime layout right now. About $30,000 of track per level. There will be 4 levels. One level is Chicago, one is Fulton, KY, one is Jackson, MS, and one is New Orleans.
