I need scale drawings of a Winnans Grasshopper

Does anyone know where I could locate scale drawings of a Winnans B&O Grasshopper? Electronic or paper sources are fine. Any help with finding these drawings would be deeply appreciated. Thank you.

Hi wsherick

I have the suspician there was a drawing of a grasshopper in one of the 1976 model railroaders not sure which month though.

But I do remember they had a four wheel flour car and a couple of coaches based on stage coaches in the same issuie.

Yep, in the July, 1976, issue! That Bicentennial resonated like a gong with those of us who loved the B&O, since one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, Charles Carrol of Carrolton (I think; my memory’s been spotty since my April, '95 “T-bone” car crash) was there at the beginning of the founding of America’s First Class One RR. The B&O was chartered in 1828 and railroads were so new they laid a cornerstone–and he was at the ceremony, since it was laid on his family’s former land!

I don’t remember the details, but there was also a construction article, done by Gordy Odegard, on some of the equipment. I think there was a cover shot of the road next to the C&O canal. Check Kalmbach’s Model Train Index (I’ve got it in my Favorites, and if you can figure out how to make the search, you can find almost anything–though there are some lapses, even in the Model Railroader information!).
