[dinner]Does anyone have (and would like to donate [:D]) or know where I can get a bull/steer with horns? I’m working on a cattle hauler, and have found everything I need except for a HO scale bull. I just cant have a cattle hauler without a set of horns for a hood ornament! []
and probably this: in which you cut off the suare in the back, shoe the above horns into, nd paint. a bit of a dough to help the edge could be useful. It’s under blue, page 30, on top.
Those are pretty close to real size, the bottom pic is about 3/4 actual size, the top should fit in the holes of the bottom
For bigger horns, there’s also (blue, page 16)(about an inch long) and (also an inch)
I would start with a plastic toothpick, then heat and bend it until I got the shape I wanted. Since most of the plastic ones have a square cross-section, some sandpaper would be required. They’re going to be too long, also, so you’ll need to cut off the ends and mount them together, but you would have had to do that with the bull, too, right?
Where’s Spacemouse’s “Mongo” now that we really need him? Wasn’t he mounted on a longhorn of some sort?
http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/490-6100 This is one place to start - I have several “longhorns” that I’ve collected over the years - I’m sure a longer look at Walther’s site under Prieser, Merten or other will yeild a good steer. Also try Musket Miniatures - they have all sorts of “wild west” items - I think I’ve seen cattle there too. My [2c]
Thanks for the ideas guys! The legos sound like a good idea, but the more I think about it the more I realize that they would probably look like the stack of ribs on fred flinstone’s car. [swg] Just a bit big. I’m not too excited about paying $14 for a scene just so I can have a tiny set of horns either. I was thinking about taking a piece of round styrene and melting it with a flame and bending it to the shape I need. That would also thin it down the more I streched it out too. I just dont think I can get both sides to look similar. [sigh]
