These locos are fairly cheap and was wondering how good they are and how many cars can it pull they are from the MPC era if Im wrong correct me I just a yankee for NY.

The Preamble was one of several single motored F-3’s made by MPC in the 70’s. They have no horn and use the early traction tires which didn’t work all that well but the F-3 is pretty heavy so it is a decent puller. Starting with the New Haven in 1978, all future F-3 were double motored and stronger pullers. By the 1980’s they got horns and magnetraction too and pulled as well as the originals.

| I bought a Preamble Express F-3 from E-bay and re-painted it in Santa Fe Livery.It has one motor but has a heavy diecast frame and runs very well.It will routinely pull 20 mpc boxcars with no problems.It is a great deal for the money. |
